Dear Parents and Educators,
As a newly established Ithna Ashari Shi’a Muslim school, Selm Academy has set out to provide children with a holistic education that comprises their intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social development. Achieving this goal calls for the involvement of parents in their children’s education. To that end, Selm Academy is offering a series of webinars for Muslim parents to address the following concerns and questions:
- How to boost children’s self-confidence in the family?
- Parenting: Micro-management to free rein. What is the happy medium?
- Parent's anxiety and its effect on children
- How to raise children with religious values (God consciousness and moral character)?
- Sibling rivalry in the family: Seeking affection and attention
- Media use during after-school hours. How safe is it?
- Developing children’s multiple intelligences in the areas where school does not offer programs. What are the priorities?
- The importance of parental bonding between fathers and children. How can this bond be enhanced with daughters, in particular?
- Sexual education and health
- A healthy diet for elementary school children. How to foster good eating habits?
- Literacy education in Canadian elementary schools. What sets Canada apart?
- Bilingual/multilingual education. How important is it and how to raise bilingual/ multilingual children?
- Why does it matter to protect and enhance the child’s first/home/heritage language?
These webinars will be offered by experts, professionals, and university professors in the relevant fields with specialties in education, psychology, linguistics, and nutrition science. Muslim parents are encouraged to attend these webinars to fulfill their role as active partners in their children’s education. Selm Academy looks forward to seeing you there.
Yours very truly,
