SELM: Strive, Explore, Learn, and Move in Peace
About Selm Academy
Selm Academy is a full-time Canadian Islamic primary school established in 2020, dedicated to offering a balanced education that integrates academic excellence with spiritual growth. At Selm, our thoughtful and experienced educators mentor students to become mindful, compassionate individuals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to both our community and society at large.
“Selm” means Peace. At our school, we Strive, Explore, Learn, and Move in Peace.
“O believers, enter the peace (Selm), all of you, and follow not the steps of Satan; he is a manifest foe to you.” [Q 2:208]

Vision, Mission, and Values

Our Vision
Our vision is to be a leader in educating children and youth who serve humanity so that they seek to provide solutions to the problems that challenge the human society while they are conscious of the spiritual dimension of their existence.
Our Mission
Our mission is to nurture well-rounded individuals who live balanced, purposeful lives rooted in the Islamic Ithna-Ashari worldview. We educate for excellence in every dimension of human development: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and moral. We foster growth that is both observable and measurable. Through a holistic approach, we enhance strong academics with co-curricular programs. We empower students with critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills to become excellent leaders. With dedicated mentorship, we help our children reach their full potential and thrive in a dynamic, ever-changing world, inshaa Allah.

Our Values
We are committed to nurturing God-consciousness in our children as the foundation of their moral and ethical development. We believe that meaningful values arise from both sound human intellect and the divinely inspired guidance of God’s messengers. Our core values include gratitude, honesty, empathy, integrity, resilience, responsibility, open-mindedness, tolerance, and compassion. We aim to help our children internalize these principles so they may experience lasting fulfillment in this life and the Hereafter, and engage with the world around them with ethical clarity and thoughtful purpose.
