Educational QualificationsBachelor’s degree in education or demonstrated expertise in the field
of instruction (minimum)
Completed undergraduate degree with a minimum 3.2 GPA.
Master’s degree or higher may be preferred
Teaching CertificationCanadian Teaching Certificate (preferred)
Program OptionsPrimary/Junior Junior/Intermediate
Teaching ExperiencePrevious teaching experience, preferably at primary level.
Subject Matter ExpertiseUndergraduate courses in areas of teaching interests.
English Proficiency
  1. Native English Language Speaker.
  2. Bachelor’s degree from an English-medium institution recognized by Selm Academy.
  3. At least 3 years work experience in English-Speaking countries (within the last 7 years)
  4. English language proficiency examination (taken within the last 24 months):
    • IELTS: Minimum score of 7.0 (Academic) with at least 6.5 in each component.
    • TOEFL: Minimum score of 93.
    • COPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English): Minimum score of 76 with at least 22 in
      each component and 32 in writing.
    • (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment): Minimum score of 70 with at least 60 in
      each part.

Educating for Moral Character:

In addition to the technical qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate should also serve as a role model for
the students. She should demonstrate the ability to fulfill the school’s mission and foster its values in the
students. The school’s value and mission statements are outlined in the Welcome section of the school’s
website.

Technical Qualifications:

  • The candidate is responsible to design and implement lesson plans that are aligned with Ithnāʿasharī Shi’a
    principles and Ontario curriculum requirements.
  • Develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum
    guidelines,
  • Collaborate with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or
    classroom issues,
  • Respond to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and
    student progress.
  • Manage students information on SIS, Attendance, prepare report cards in timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings and prepare and deliver Parent-Teacher meetings.
  • Adhere to the relevant Federal and Provincial laws and requirement
