Welcome
About Selm Academy
Established in 2020, Selm Academy is a Canadian Islamic primary school exclusively catering to students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8. Our core mission is centered on the holistic development of children and youth, aligning with the teachings of the Qur’an, Prophet, and the Ahl al-Bayt. In addition to adhering to the Ontario curriculum, our robust curriculum encompasses Islamic Studies, Quranic Arabic, and students’ native languages. As a full-time educational institution, our school operates from Monday to Friday, with a structured schedule spanning from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
“O believers, enter the peace (Selm), all of you, and follow not the steps of Satan; he is a manifest foe to you.” [Q 2:208]
Vision, Mission, and Values
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a leader in educating children and youth who serve humanity so that they seek to provide solutions to the problems that challenge the human society while they are conscious of the spiritual dimension of their existence.
Our Mission
Our mission is to educate for excellence in moral character, intellectual rigour, and physical well-being, in order for students to develop a balanced attitude towards life, with measurable and observable outcomes spiritually, academically, socially, and athletically, consistent with an Islamic Ithna-Ashari perspective. We emphasize co-curricular programs in order to help realize our values. We also aim to promote in our students a sense of collaboration and leadership, a set of thinking skills to prepare them for future, and the capacity to grow academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and creatively to their full potential.
Our Values
We are committed to fostering in our children God-consciousness, compassion, reason, respect, dignity, and service in light of the teachings of the Qur’an, the Prophet, and his Ahl-ul-Bayt. We expect that by internalizing these qualities, our students will develop a sense of contentment in this world and for the Hereafter, and that they will make meaningful contributions to the society as exemplary role models. We will try to promote in our students a sense of honesty, responsibility, community, integrity, respect, and resilience.
